Question.
Im about ready to join the wing half's together and sheet them setting in any wash out.
Problem is the wing tip jig has no markings so i do not know where to set it when sheeting the wing. From everything i can see it looks like there is no wash out?.
If someone can confirm i would sure appreciate it.

You are right in your assumption.... there is no washout.

Thanks!
I set it at 0 knowing it was a aerobatic plane.

So gear is a problem. Tried to order some gear from TNT and they wanted $60+11.99 Shipping. That is just to much for me
Anyone have a suggestion for landing gear that would work?

Default Gear

I don't even have a clue where my LG came ftom. As a scratch builder I tended to collect stuff. Crashed planes, swap meets. Anything that fits. My Prime Cut 20 has the LG from a 4*120 ARF on it.

Yes, I'm still open on some threads and get notices. So does Karol, Cliff and Rick. We all get them on the Up-Roar thread. We are all still in contact too. I even got mail from a guy close to me that located my old Moth and bought it at a swap meet. That was cool. I sold it in 0-6.

Hey Bank Yank its been awhile since we heard from you so how has progress been with your model. Just looking again at your build photos thought I should mention that its been the experience of many of us CG Extra owners that if you plan on using a powerful engine (considering the model was designed for .61 power) especially a gasser you should retain all the fuselage knockouts forward of the leading edge bulkhead and laminate the inside of the fuse sides in that area with some lite ply as this is a area is a known weak link.

Still here.
Second one i have built actually and will be powering it with a OS 1.08. Same as the last one i built.
I never added anything extra to the first one and wont on this one either except the LG block. Keep it light is the best way to build it. Never had a problem after many many flights with the first one. Don't imagine i will with this one either. Gas engine i dunno as they beat the heck out of anything from my experience.
The reason there has been no updates is because somehow when i built the wing it did not come out straight. The tabs on the center rib and end rib broke off a bunch of times when building leading to different washout after sheeting. My fault i should have checked better. So now its sitting in a corner waiting for me to decide if i want to fix the wing best i can and use it or order new wing parts and build another wing. Also been busy with work, arf's and new to me(used)quads.
Naturally wife hated the color of hers so i had to paint it a color she liked.

I'm building my second CG Extra 300 and need some advice. I had a YS 120 in my first one and had the engine initially mounted on its side with a slimline wraparound muffler. Later I mounted it inverted with header and a cigar shaped muffler. Then it crashed (nothing to do with the installation, just my dumb thumbs). I'm planning on using the same YS in the new model, so before I start hacking my new cowl, I am looking for the most elegant mounting solution. I'm not planning on a DLE20 yet, but we'll see.
I would appreciate pics of YS/OS 120 installations.
Thanks.

If you clock the engine head between 7 and 8 O Clock, and use an on board glow driver, you can get the pipe to exit the bottom of the cowl. You may need to do some thing about cooling though. Inverted is likely the best way to go with the radiator opening cut out for cooling.

Has anyone actually flown the Extra 300, built from Wizardofflight’s plans yet ? I would like to know how it flew compared to the original. I just want to verify incidences, firewall location, weight etc.

I have an airframe less cowl that is in great condition which I no longer need in the garage.
Would take $100 for it

The wizard’s Extra 300 clone is taking shape. I have a YS120 going up front and a cowl and canopy from FS. I got a carbon fiber landing gear from HobbyKing.
If I don’t mess things up I hope to have it ready by Christmas.

Whoa, big picture

Has anyone measured the dihedral on the Extra ? I realize that we join the wings upside down using the support fixtures and hope everything turns out OK, but I would just like to verify that the assembly went correctly.
When I built my first Extra, I’m sure I just glued it, and flew it. Maybe I’m over thinking it, but it would just be a reference check.

The tapered ribs in a sense builds in some dihedral.

Yes, I tried to measure dihedral from root rib center line to centerline of the tip rib. I got about 0.1”
