I've got the older version of the H-9 P-47 with the Robart airs and have had zero issues with them. I use an airline restrictor for a slower cycle.

Default Do 100% scale P-47's count?

Hi Rick,
I know you asked us to email you to join but I thought all of the members might be interested in this info. I very much would like to join your group. I have been a model builder for the past 58 years but don't yet have a model of a P-47. But, does being on the committee that selected the two flying P-47's from the Tennessee Museum of Aviation, to fly in our airshow next year, count? I live in Evansville, Indiana, former home of one of the Republic Aviation plants that built P-47's. In fact the two that will be flying in our airshow June 13 - 15, 2014 were build here in Evansville a week apart. I will post more info about our airshow within the next couple of months. If you like airplanes, airshows and especially the P-47's Evansville is where you want to be the second weekend in June next year. There is actually a chance we will have a third P-47 join in our airshow. We all have our fingers crossed.

Default My P47 Ride

Hi fellow P47 lovers. Mine is a YA razorback. Has Sierra mains and a YA tailwheel retract. Doors are sequenced by a UP3 valve. Covered with Flite Metal and painted to the theme of the Fat Cat. Equipped with a moving canopy on an air cylinder. Powered by a G62.

Question for you all. What kind of muffler can I use to keep from cutting a hole in the cowl?

Thanks, Mike

Spiritwind,

You can probably use a pitts style muffler.

SPRITWIND:

Question for you all. What kind of muffler can I use to keep from cutting a hole in the cowl?

This is what I did but I'm thinking of cutting the exhaust tube off and running it into a "Y" to 2 flex tubes and running them out where the Waste Gate exhaust stacks come out right where your stacks come out only they would be functional. Also a Canister could be built that the stack from my existing set up would go into and would be fastened to the bottom of the motor box with the flex tubes coming out the back and routed down to the Waste Gate stacks go.
Lots of different things are possible. I don't remember where I saw it but I've seen the same thing with all flex pipe from a modified pitts muffler.

Not enough room. I have a cup mount on the engine. Need to use something like a Bennet but I would have to cut a hole in side of cowl.

No build thread. The rivets are just surface detailed using the end of brass tubing. Nothing under the foil.
